WHY WE BUILT THIS
My dad Carroll was diagnosed with cancer. He had young kids at home, old enough to feel the loss, young enough to forget the details.
So we sat down with him and recorded his story. His voice. His memories. The things he wanted his kids to know someday.
Six months later, he was gone.
His children will grow up and be able to press play and hear their dad tell his own story. In his own words. On his own terms. That video exists because we acted when we had the chance.
That is why we built Roots & Story. And it is why we show up for every family the way we wish someone had shown up for ours.

One Story. Four Ways to Keep It.
Every package begins with the same guided in-home interview. What changes is how the story is delivered.
Our Process

Each story is unique. To capture it authentically, we'll collaborate with you from the start. We'll schedule a discovery call to discuss your vision and understand what's most important to you. Then, we'll provide a family framework questionnaire to spark memories and help guide the interview. This collaborative approach ensures the final video reflects your priorities and captures the full essence of your family's story.

Our experienced interviewer will come to your home, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment for sharing your story. They will guide you through a series of open-ended questions, allowing your memories and reflections to flow naturally. The interview typically takes 3-4 hours, but we're flexible to ensure we capture everything that's important to you.

With the interview complete, we move into the production phase. We'll collaborate with you to gather cherished family photos and videos that complement the stories shared. Our skilled editor will then weave together these visual elements with the interview footage, carefully crafting a final product that is both engaging and emotionally resonant. This typically takes 4-6 weeks, and we'll keep you updated throughout the process.

After the production process is complete, it's time to experience the power of your family story. You'll receive a secure digital video, typically ranging from 1 to 2 hours in length (though it can be longer depending on the interview), showcasing the interview, cherished photos, and perhaps even some family video clips. This video is yours to cherish, share with loved ones, and pass down through generations. It's a legacy that will connect your family, honor your history, and keep your memories alive for years.
